What are the possible negative consequences if your audience is not persuaded by your argument?
Teachers need to know that they are shaping the future by
educating the students so they can become productive members of society. The students of today will become the leaders
of tomorrow and that can only happen if they have a good education. If students
fall through the cracks then they will have a low self-esteem and not want to
finish school and feel inadequate. You want to teach the kids to love learning
or they won’t want to pursue a good education when they finish grade school,
and continuing their education becomes an option they won’t want to go to
college because they struggled in grade school.
I received a public school education where I didn’t get support from my
teachers and I felt as though they didn’t care whether I failed or not, made no
difference to them they get paid all the same. Now that I chose, even though I struggled,
to continue my education I feel as though I need to try harder than everyone
else.
My choice was to work instead of going to school because I fell
through the cracks. I didn’t get that positive motivation to want to learn. No one
taught me that education was important and vital to my future and money was
valued more than education, I didn’t like school anyways and I didn’t enjoy
learning so I decided to get a job. After obtaining a few jobs I realized that I
could not move up in the world or get further in life without the proper
education, so I went to college, not because I wanted to or because I loved
learning but because I had to if I wanted to obtain a better career and be able
to provide for myself and in the future, my kids and be able to have the
knowledge to help my kids with their education. I didn’t want to be stuck in a
dead end job and earn minimum wage. I learned education important for a person’s
future the hard way. If no one shows the students that getting a education can affect
them in the long run and teachers don’t give students the attention and encouragement
they need then they will struggle in life.
Teachers are an example of a successful career and life for
the students. Students spend more than half their childhood with their teachers
and the other half with their parents, the approach that the teachers take towards
teaching and their attitude will reflect how the students will treat their
education and their future careers as well. If the teachers act as though they
are just punching in a time card and collecting a pay check then the students
are going to treat their education as if it is not important because the teacher
is showing that they don’t not care about their education either, monkey see,
monkey do. Students cannot see the whole picture, that their education they receive
at present will affect what happens to them in the future. They need someone to
point out to them that education is crucial as well as the students themselves.
They need someone there to show them that they have the potential to move
mountains. If students do not have a positive role model then they will automatically
be closing doors that would have been open for them if only someone showed them
the way.
